1. I just switched to the free version of AOL. No reason for me to keep lining the pockets of the higher-ups for a service that completely and totally SUCKS.

2. Do you know how the tradition of the Angel on the Christmas tree got started? It was quite a long time ago. It was 3 weeks till Christmas and the elves went out on strike. The letters to Santa were pouring in madly and Santa was alone in the shop at the North Pole trying to make the gifts needed to avoid a worldwide disappointment. He had been working 16 hours a day, sputtering under his breath and cursing every time he made a mistake. His eyes were wild and fiery.
An Angel, flying by the North Pole heard the cursing and dropped down to investigate. On peering into the shop window and seeing the frazzled Santa working alone and the pile of letters by the bench, the Angel knew that she had to do something to put Christmas cheer into Santa’s Heart. Later that day while Santa was working like a madman, the door of the shop flew open and the Angel came in dragging the Christmas tree behind her. She shouted to Santa, "I have the Christmas Tree, Santa. Where would you like me to put it?"
The rest is history.

6. It's been a very sad year for AOL. In a matter of months, they have dismantled 30% of their services...the 60-70% left (worth mentioning) is their email and AIM. Will they be discontinued too!? I too say SHAME ON AOL for pulling the rug out under loyal AOL users. Before there were "blogs" there was AOL Journals. People were more real there and not just blurting out worthless opinions like on the other blogging sites. AOL pictures was not only a good way to share your pictures, but was also a great fail-safe to store your invaluable pictures should your computer just up and die. These were quality services that, in my opinion, were unmatched by any other website or online community. AOL used to be a name you could trust. Now they just seem so shady...informing people (if you even get the "memo")... with less than a months notice...that they no longer will have a certain service. And the alternatives we have? Photoworks sucks! Blogger isn't as personal as Hometown was. Give me a break!
We should have seen this coming when AOL became a free service (in 2004?). When they got out of the ISP business, they had to search for other sources of revenue. And who pays the price when they fail to generate that revenue (mostly due to poor management)? AOL users! If it weren't for the fact I'm completely dependent on my AOL email, I too would just say "screw AOL!" I loved what AOL was the first 10-12 years. But now it's just another poorly managed corporate entity who will become the next "Prodigy" or "Compuserve" because of piss-poor leadership.

8. AOL is going down the drains, Why don't they just shut down everything and keep Bebo? Seems like that's what they want to do! Know what? Let AOL do that. No one will miss those buttholes (didn't wanna cuss, children go on here) Also, I don't know if this is true, but i heard that ICQ was going to shut down. I am not positive of this, but it's been going around.

9. Funniest holiday joke? How about this posting? After a half dozen posts about how this is closing, that is closing, they go, "Hey, people like to laugh: tell a funny joke!"?
That's hysterical. It's like expecting the workers you've just fired the week before Christmas to come sing carols with you.

10. Having been ill - and a bit pre-occupied - with other things - until now.
When I needed to access my site. Which I spent several years - developing - with a new matrix genealogy base design.
You've wiped out - all that work - without remorse.
I can only - amen - the rest of the comments regarding this. As they are reflective of the damage you've done.
I think a curse & a pox shall be prayed upon you. That you and your descendants - will be lost souls - in the abyss of - other public, governmental - and private - mediums.
Until - you restore every last bit/byte - to those who trusted in AOL.

19. So, it sucks that AOL has had to do away with so many of it's products and services. I guess I understand it, having to cut costs, like any other company during rough times. At least they sent an email well in advance letting me know to now use American Greetings to access my photos. AOL is like Wall-E, the robot who has has been around since practically the beginning of technology, and no matter how good the quality is of its email or instant messaging, or how many other, newer products were isnpired by AOL - they need to be seriously reinvented in order to survive.
